Karla Plumb

Maple Leaf Icon

Karla Plumb started dabbling in photography in high school, where she was first introduced to the darkroom. Some years later, she enrolled in continuing education photography classes, spent a summer developing her own black-and-white film and set up a darkroom of her own at home. She later earned a Photography Certificate from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and finally launched her own photography company.

After starting with the school photography industry in 2011, Karla quickly realized it was where she was meant to be. She thrives on giving students and parents amazing memories of the school years. Over eight years, Karla received several accolades for photography excellence, and through leadership and ongoing encouragement, she helped other photographers working with her to do the same.

Most recently, Karla has gone back to school again, taking classes in interior design, another field close to her heart. Starting from scratch and learning how to create floor plans and elevations by hand and through software, she’s embracing her love of lifelong learning.

In her free time, Karla enjoys travel and has had many opportunities to experience new surroundings and cultures, from Japan to Europe to the Caribbean and many parts of the United States. Growing up in Alberta and settling in Ontario, she’s criss-crossed our beautiful country more than once. Karla’s favourite travel companions are her husband, Jon, and their dog, Tucker.
